Caroline is a graduate of Brenneke School of Massage and Pacific Institute’s Yoga Teacher Training (RYT 200). She has a BA in History and Art History. She has studied and traveled to Egypt, Peru and Europe for over 15 years with several highly regarded energy and sound healers.

Caroline brings years of experience with Swedish massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Acupressure, the deeply relaxing, long, slow strokes of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, and Tibetan Head Massage. She is certified in Intraoral Massage and is currently training in Bowen Therapy. All theses modalities are very useful for chronic pain, injury treatment, and stress reducing relaxation. Caroline has practised Yoga for many years and became a certified Yoga teacher in 2012. This training allows her to incorporate Yoga postures and Pranayama (breathing techniques) into a session to help prevent injury and to extend the effectiveness of the massage work.

Caroline’s practice began to transform after one of her knees deteriorated combined with major abdominal surgery a few years later. After surgery she had a lot of down time and used it to meditate more often. It became evident that the more she meditated the less she ached! (She experimented with cutting back on the meditation and the aches returned!) Somehow meditation is able to release stress on the nervous system which disappears aches in the body. By helping clients find the still point in meditation through her energy work, she is able to help them release long held physical and emotional aches.

what to expect

Cream & Oil: Your skin is your largest organ and absorbs everything you put on it, especially the abdomen where the skin is the most porous.  In light of this it becomes paramount that you make wise choices about what you put on it to keep yourself in optimum health. My cream of choice is Sacred Earth Botanicals, certified organic, vegan and nut free. My oil of choice is Bindi massage oil, containing the purest Ayurvedic herbs and essential oils from India to calm the nervous system. I also use Arnica cream for specific aches and pains.

.

Complimentary Extras: To create an oasis of healing I begin each session with either hot stones used on your back to deeply relax or dry brushing technique, also very relaxing with the added benefit of cleansing the lymph system and improving circulation while increasing cell renewal.

the physical piece of a session

Swedish Massage: Soft flowing strokes used to apply oil and kneading and  lifting to increase oxygen and release toxins from the muscles

.

Trigger Point or Neuromuscular Therapy: A modality used to release small contraction knots in the muscles that are causing pain elsewhere in the body; an example would be a pain in the upper back actually triggering pain in the neck, release the back and the neck is finally able to release.

.

Acupressure: Using Acupuncture points to release pain in muscles but addressing them with fingers rather than needles.

.

Tibetan Head Massage: A system of using meridian lines and tapping to release pain.

.

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi: Long, slow deeply relaxing strokes that incorporate the whole body.

.

Intraoral Massage: Very useful for TMJ, clenching, grinding, headaches, neck pain, jaw issues, chronic sinus problems; intraoral consists of the practitioner going in the client’s mouth with a gloved hand to release the temporomandibular joint and surrounding muscles.

.

Bowen: A gentle, non-invasive ,neuro-muscular therapy that helps reset tissue patterns throughout the body system. Bowen stimulates the body to engage it’s own healing mechanisms which explains why it can address numerous conditions. Excellent for chronic pain, fibromyalgia, stress induced conditions, the list is endless!

.

Foot Reflexology: working points on the feet that correlate to various parts and organs in the body in order to help them release.

the energetic piece of a session

This is what makes your session individual to you. Whatever is up for you that needs to be cleared will probably arise in some form. Energetic practices work with healing the physical body by working with the energy fields surrounding the body. Each of us uses a particular energetic vehicle to clear our chakras and various fields. We all subconsciously know how to use our particular energetic vehicle and I simply tune in and help clients “see” which one is their vehicle of choice. Some people use sacred geometry while others use things there are no words for.

.

One thing that is most important to remember about energy work is that you cannot always control what needs to be cleared.  You may come in with an intention but other things or issues may be cleared before that particular one can let go. Sometimes, when I work on the back, people will clear a physical pain that is related to a past life issue. Sound can be very useful for this. Issues can clear quickly when the client tunes into the sound that she/he feels in this area and then expresses it. This technique isn’t for everyone, and I only use it when appropriate.

.

No two sessions are the same even for the same person. It is always a wonderful surprise to people there is nothing they have to do but be aware.  Awareness is the key! Becoming aware of what is going on and needs to be released while letting your guides do the work is the most freeing feeling a person can have in this world.
